Driven by Materials and Technology, Domestic Coatings Break Foreign Monopolies

On May 27, 2025, Chenguang Metal Coatings led a research project with independent intellectual property rights, titled 'Development and Application of Waterborne Low-Temperature Integrated Coating Materials for Automotive Applications,' which successfully passed the scientific and technological achievement appraisal jointly organized by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation and the China Coatings Industry Association. The appraisal committee unanimously agreed that the project's products, through the development and research of core materials for waterborne low-temperature conductive primers and waterborne low-temperature color paints used in automotive coating, overcame key industry challenges in waterborne low-temperature integrated coating technology for metal and non-metal automotive bodies, promoting the development of green coatings and low-carbon coating processes in China, and achieving an overall technology level that meets international advanced standards.

The 'Development and Application of Waterborne Low-Temperature Integrated Coating Materials for Automotive Applications' project was undertaken jointly by Changzhou Wujin Chenguang Metal Coatings Co., Ltd., Changzhou University, and FAW Jiefang. Some of the project's products have been successfully applied in the coating lines of FAW Group and Sinotruk, while also actively advancing the validation of the full range of products in brands such as Chery and Geely.

This project focuses on the two 'integration' goals of automotive coatings and coating processes, proposing practical solutions for the 'green and low-carbon, intelligent manufacturing, quality improvement, and efficiency enhancement' aspects of automotive coating. The technology aligns with the national direction of automotive coatings development and is significant for promoting the green transformation of the industry.
